Promoting Attendance:
The Governors, Headteacher and staff will use all possible opportunities to promote the importance of good attendance and punctuality. These will include the home/school agreement, newsletters, rewards and incentives for good or significantly improving attendance.
Rewards for good attendance
All children who have 100 percent attendance, and no lates in any one term, will receive an excellence certificate for attendance. There are also certificates for any child who has 100 percent attendance and no lates for a whole school year. Other incentives may be implemented by the school.
Requesting Leave of absence
The Head Teacher has the discretion to authorise leave of absence in term-time, however this is discouraged. We believe that children need to be in school for all sessions, so that they can make the most progress possible. We do understand that there are circumstances under which a parent may legitimately request leave of absence.
Term Time holiday
Amendments have been made to the 2006 regulations in the Education (Pupil Registration) (England) (Amendments) Regulations 2013. These amendments come into force on 1st September, 2013. These changes removed references to family holiday and extended leave as well as the statutory threshold of ten school days. The amendments make clear that Headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.
